    • Making of Monumento

    •  ".....My innocent drawing of baroque patterns – a gift to the city, to N.EST, to its homeless people and passers-by rushing in and out of the station – stands as a monument to the fallen of that modernity. A new, small satori for times being. Starting from those rusty shutters, it creates -almost by force – a new hunting ground, new waters to fish. A large and silent owl climbs up at the edge of delirium – the former industrial zone of Italy’s third largest major city – and claims the right to be cured; the right to a brilliance shared by spirituality and the murky waters of Vigliena alike."

monumento is a public artwork by Marco Zezza
made during N.EST 2.0 "the making of the city" @ MADRE MUSEUM PROJECT ROOM - Naples - february 2008

quotation from: Digging Memories, Performing the Future. Once upon Naples East.
      words by Diana Marrone

Part of the book: Urban Makers – Parallel Narratives of Grassroots Practices and Tensions presents research based on the case-study cities – Istanbul, Liverpool, Marseille and Naples – through essays and projects by artists, architects, urbanists, anthropologists, cultural planners and activists. The four cities were the starting point for the development of a multi-voice discourse that seeks to highlight the complexity of urban space and numerous problematic aspects of its production and representation.
